In a first for a YP publisher, Superpages’ relatively new Android app offers augmented reality (AR), much like “monocle” on Yelp. The app was built by uLocate. Here are a few screens:
Publishers are trying to figure out the use cases for AR, which is still more novelty than anything else. But eventually it will offer a pretty compelling way to obtain content — mostly about something you’re standing right in front of. However, on a view like the one above, Superpages could call out special offers or deals in its AR display. That would be pretty practical and interesting.
Regardless, the folks in Seattle are doing some very interesting things with Superpages in mobile.
