Google LBC Adapts for the ‘Long Tail’

Google logoAccording to Barry Schwartz at SEO Roundtable, Google is now letting SMBs define their own categories in the Local Business Center.

To some degree this is an adaptation to reality — not everyone fits into the pre-defined, structured headings provided. But it also appears to be a way to accomodate an increasingly specific body of queries, the so-called long-tail, as people doing local searches eventually move from categories to questions.
