Marchex and Citysearch in Distribution Deal

Citysearch has done another distribution deal, this time with Marchex:

Under the agreement, Citysearch will provide its content, including editorial and user reviews, promotions, images and video for distribution on Marchexs local network of more than 150,000 local Web sites, including Openlist.com, Yellow.com and geo-targeted sites such as chicagodoctors.com. Marchex will distribute advertisements from Citysearchs broad base of local advertisers across its local network, which attracts more than 26 million unique users monthly.

This follows similar deals for Citysearch with AOL and MerchantCircle. For its part, Marchex recently announced a similar deal with Superpages.

Everyone is building a local ad network of sorts — because you have to, given the fragmentation in local. My question is when will there be a true “local exchange” along the lines of the myraid ad exchanges that now exist?
