LookSmart, which had at one time been a big player in local/IYP, had been given up for all-but-dead by most people, having shed most of its former assets and executives. But apparently LookSmart has a fair amount of cash in the bank and is preparing for a more visible comeback. According to MediaPost, the company named interim CEO Ted West as CEO proper.
Recently Looksmart sold its Web crawler Grub to Wikia and the company also purchased the assets (at a reported $250K) of now-defunct classifieds site Edgeio. I’m intrigued by the latter move.

The latter move is easily enough explained: Ted West worked for Keith Teare (Edgeio founder & CEO) at RealNames.
