Real estate vertical HotPads yesterday launched for-sale listings, putting it in more direct competition with Zillow, Trulia and other so-called “Web 2.0” real estate sites. The major thing that distinguishes HotPads from these other sites is its whimsical interface, which some will like and others perhaps not.
Previously the site only provided rental listings. This content addition is a natural extension for the site into what co-founder Douglas Pope said was the “sexier” part of the market: for sale listings.
Not long ago HotPads announced a $2 million investment.
