Yellow Book Now Offers Video

Yellow Book USA, a leading national yellow pages and online local search company, announced today that it has launched a live advertiser video trial on yellowbook.com, the companys Internet yellow pages (IYP) site.

The trial is a test of selected Yellow Book advertisers from across the country. The advertisers represent a cross-spectrum of small and medium-sized businesses that advertise on yellowbook.com.

The yellowbook.com video ads are professionally produced, high-quality spots that provide advertisers the opportunity to promote their business in their own words and with strong visuals.

The video shoots took place at the advertisers place of business and required little disruption to their business and time. After professional editing, the finished videos were added to yellowbook.com to accompany the advertisers Internet display ads.

Video is on the roadmap at YellowPages.com and will come to Yelp as well at some point. Ultimately it will be an option at all directory sites and maybe all serious local search sites that offer their own advertising — as the production infrastructure continues to build out.

One strategic question for all these folks is whether they’ll syndicate video to Google and Yahoo!. Superpages has already answered this question in the affirmative:

Superpages intends to syndicate video to a range of destinations, including, potentially, its current network of PPClick partners. What’s interesting is that Chandler said they were also open to syndicating video to other Internet yellow pages sites.
