When I was about to get off the phone with Microsoft yesterday, after discussing their announced purchase of online ad exchange, AdECN I said: “I look forward to speaking with you about the next acquisition — tomorrow.” Everyone laughed. But this has more or less been the pace of the M&A activity lately. I for one am exhausted.
The morning started with the RH Donnelley announcement that it was acquiring Business.com (more on that later) and the day ended for me with the Microsoft announcement about AdECN (amount undisclosed). And in-between there were at least 10 or more press releases about new product announcements, etc. that I received.
