On the earnings call there was a specific question asked about Google’s local efforts.
Larry Page (co-founder) responded:
- Really excited about our efforts in local.
- User experience a long way to go to make those things work better.
- In the early stages of those products . . .

We’ve made it easier and faster local businesses to enter and verify their information. Launched verification by phone that gets that process down to a few minutes, where it used to take days. As we build out that underlying functionality and infrastructure, we’ll be able to do a lot more for local businesses . . .
