Google Searchology News

I’m at Google with every major news outlet in the US about to hear some announcements related to Google search/results. Danny Sullivan will provide a recap here (with a link to the live webcast).

So far we’ve heard about the history of Google and some of the refinement strategies Google is using to get users to desired information more quickly.

The major announcements are “Universal Search” (integration of different content and media types [esp. video] into search results pages) and contextual and universal navigation. Local/Maps results will be included into results more broadly it appears, but won’t always appear in the same position. Google is making different relevance determinations in different query scenarios.

Maps are also being integrated into the “experimental” views product.

There’s lots more to think about and discuss. However, these Danny Sullivan posts above that I’ve linked to are quite long and complete.
