Google Analytics Adds Local Features

There was a major upgrade to Google Analytics. Here are posts on the Google Analytics Blog, Google Blog and here’s Barry Schwartz’s general discussion at SEL. Here’s the tour of the new features.

Not being a maven I won’t go into it except for an interesting enhancement that pertains to local.

Google is now providing heatmaps down to the city level to indicate where traffic is coming from geographically. Enquisite was the only analytics tool, that I’m aware of, to do this previously.

Obviously this allows marketers to better target customers in specific local markets. It also would enable the use of the Internet as a tool to help design or improve traditional marketing.
