SuperPages Takes a Step toward Social Media

SuperPages

SuperPages has had user reviews for some time. Today it announced “Reviewer of the Week,” a competition seeking to drive more engagement and more reviews. (The “Reviewer of the Week” will be featured on the SuperPages home page.) This move is also a kind of baby step toward something that looks and smells more like a community than star ratings and stand-alone reviews.

The announcement also suggests that there will be additional features to come along these lines:

Local search is hot and so is social networking, so it makes sense that we combine the two, said Robyn Rose, vice president of marketing for SuperPages.com. Whether you’re talking about finding the best Italian restaurant or a reliable plumber, SuperPages.com provides robust local search capabilities, along with ratings and user reviews, to connect circles of trusted individuals.

This is also SuperPages starting to break out (a bit) of the legacy constraints of its telco parent’s culture.
