LinkedIn Raises More Money

According to Matt Marshall at VentureBeat business networking site LinkedIn has raised almost $13 million more ($12.8 precisely). The new investment boosts the company’s valuation to well over $200 million according to reported speculation.

LinkedIn, which is profitable, has a variety of revenue streams and, apparently, will be seeking to expand those in the near future. LinkedIn recently launched a “Q&A” service, LinkedIn Answers, and a yellow pages-like section, LinkedIn Services, and an Ether-like service, LinkedIn Experts. Basically anything you can do with a valuable, trusted community expect LinkedIn to develop.

My observation is that activity around LinkedIn has picked up significantly in the past several months. It appears that people I interact with have generally embraced the site and are now making an effort in lieu of formerly perfunctory participation by many.
