Joel Burslem posts about discount broker/real estate site Redfin — one of the original sites to use satellite/dynamic mapping — integrating the Microsoft Virtual Earth API. They said they abandoned their own technology because there’s a mapping “arms race” going on and they didn’t want to have to keep up.
What’s perhaps most interesting about the discussion is the Redfin side-by-side comparison of Google Maps vs. Virtual Earth. It’s also interesting that Redfin apparently didn’t consider Yahoo! Maps’ API, which is highly regarded and could have equally supported the site.
