Saved Locations on Google Maps

Google Maps adds “saved locations” (it works automatically if you’re signed in). There’s also the ability to label locations and a nice “auto-complete” feature, which is different and valuable, for previously searched-for sites and businesses.

The saved locations become a kind of “my directory” that consumers (who adopt it) can use to access business contact details as well as maps. This utility will likely reinforce usage of Google Maps as a local search tool.

Here’s more from the Google Blog and Search Engine Journal. It’s worth noting that Yahoo! Maps has had a version of this (“My Locations”), but without the auto-complete dimension, for a considerable period of time.
