Matt McGee does a nice roundup of some obscure search engines over at SEL. Many have a local element. One that I thought was cool is 2itch, which also offers a mobile site.

The idea is simple: businesses that are open 24 hours. Very useful to those up/out late.
There’s something of a model here for YP and newspapers, which have lots of data and could build out high-utility “verticals” like this.

This is a look-what-I-can-do-mashup used to spray ad words onto and maybe make some $$.
You should check the expiration date on your egg nog if you think this is anything more than an afternoon in the dorm room project by a sophomore CS student that ran out of weed.
