Spotzer has done another significant video deal, this time with Hearst’s White Directories. From the press release:
Starting today, a rich online library of high quality pre-produced merchant videos in hundreds of business categories is being made available to advertising clients of White Directory, which is one of the largest independent publishers of print and online yellow pages directories in the United States. Through White Directory sales representatives, advertisers can select a video and then have it tailored to deliver their unique selling points through the recording of a customized voice track and the editing of text overlays and end cards. Logos and even photos of the client’s products, people and premises can also be added to the videos.
This looks very similar to the MerchantCircle deal.
The various video producers are now starting to distinguish themselves in several ways: platform, distribution, quality content, analytics. This market is very much like the Local SEM space and we should start seeing some acquisitions relatively soon, depending on how bad the economy gets.

Tests we’ve run indicate that posting templated-content videos may not be the greatest in Video SEO tactics, noting that video website editors will tear down virtually-identical content. That’s why I question the use of using virtually-identical, templated video content across clients. Original content per client precludes this snag.

Spotrunner primarily made template ads and has since they started business, and they appear to be in financial trouble according to most blogs. CheapTVSpots produces only custom-made TV and web ads at a discount rate. Spotzer will produce a custom ad if requested, but generally at a higher rate sometimes 5X the flat rate of Cheap TV Spots as I recall. CheapTVSpots is the most award-winning discount ad agency in the world. Hope this info helps clarify the services offered.
