ReachLocal Hires a CFO

ReachLocal has hired a CFO and general counsel:

ReachLocal, Inc. ReachLocal Inc., a leading provider of local Internet marketing solutions for small- to medium-sized businesses, announced today that it has built out its management team with the hiring of Ross Landsbaum as Chief Financial Officer and Adam Wergeles as General Counsel.

Landsbaum joins ReachLocal with more than 20 years of experience in finance and operations at both multi-location customer service-oriented businesses and diversified media companies. Most recently, he was at MacAndrews & Forbes’ Panavision, a leading service provider to the global motion picture and television industries, where he was Chief Financial Officer and, subsequently, Chief Operating Officer. . .

Hiring a CFO is suggestive of an aim at the public markets.

I’m curious how many advertisers they have. I would imagine thousands, but when I browse their national directory I find surprisingly few. Eg just 6 dentists in the entire US:

I think that directory only includes their advertisers that use the RL profile pages, which I gather is only a small portion of their client base.

@Mike. I see. Odd though. Given that their cost to add advertisers to their directory is near zero you would imagine they would add all their clients. Any incremental calls/clicks would be icing on the cake for their advertisers. I imagine such a directory SEO very well given the rich content.

@Malcolm Yeah, seems like a no-brainer… I suppose their thought is that increased organic ranking/clicks would cause their advertisers to reduce their PPC spend.
