Spot Runner Hires Former MTV Executive
Spot Runner, which recently hired MSN’s Joanne Bradford in a national sales role, has made another high-profile hire: former MTV COO Mark Rosenthal. He comes in as “president of Media Platforms and vice chairman.” According to press materials, Rosenthal “will head up a newly created division focused on leveraging Spot Runner’s portfolio of technologies to develop programs specific to the needs of advertising agencies and media companies.” Rosenthal has a long history in the ad industry in addition to MTV.
Spot Runner has transformed from an online “ad agency” for SMBs, focused on selling pre-produced TV spots on cable, to a much broader shop that can locally tailor campaigns for national marketers, as well as offer a more complete suite of online ad products. Part of that latter capability comes through its acquisition of local SEM firm Weblistic.
These high-profile hires suggest the company is “bulking up” for a new stage of growth. The company has raised a considerable amount of investor money and is rumored to have meaningful revenues from agencies and marketers.
