Register.com Latest to Offer Marketing Services

Domain registrar Register.com becomes the latest to offer a “guaranteed leads” (clicks) product (although it appears budget-based). It includes phone tracking but that isn’t being billed separately.Without confirmation, I’m guessing that WebVisible is powering this. (Register.com said it was not WebVisible.)

I posed as a regular SMB and did a sales call with the program. The guy I spoke with was friendly and tried to be helpful but the call hit a couple of rough patches. In fairness, this is a week old program and the reps are now just fielding their first calls. I tried to be restrained in my questioning. In lay language I asked about:

• Click fraud
• Differences between a lead and a click
• How the program was different than others I’ve heard about in the market
• Pricing of packages
