DotHomes Integrates Foreclosures
DotHomes, which is crawling for real estate listings, has integrated structured data from RealtyTrac on foreclosures. When I heard about this last week (though not the RealtyTrac part) I was excited because this is valuable information for consumers. However, RealtyTrac makes you pay a subscription to see the details and precise location of the listing. So it’s a bit of a “bait and switch.”
The foreclosure data are public but, I suppose, problematic to collect and assemble. RealtyTrac has already done that built a business model around it. So it’s easier to do a deal than to try and recreate the database.
Trulia has had this same data for some time. Here’s my previous post on DotHomes.
