Mixpo on Video for SMBs

MixpoMixpo, which offers online video advertising for SMBs, has written the “Small Is Beautiful” column today at Search Engine Land. The column is an argument for video as a SMB marketing vehicle.

There’s another, similar company about to launch next Monday. So the segment is getting more crowded with competitors, all of which need sales channel partners (read: yellow pages) to reach local advertisers. The newspapers, local SEM firms, webhosts and verticals are also potential channel partners.

I was with TurnHere CEO Brad Inman yesterday briefly and he affirmed again how much demand he’s seeing for local video from sales channel partners “across all kinds of categories.” Indeed, beyond the efficacy of video itself, the time is ripe for SMB video ads given the rise of blended/universal search, the decline in production costs and the need for high margin products in the YP and other online segments.
