According to the Google LatLong blog the company has added a Mapplet that offers real-time parking “inventory” information on Google Maps. It’s only for Santa Monica right now apparently but this capability must exist across the US.
This is useful but it would be really really useful in mobile.
Google Mapplets have not yet made their way into mobile. (It would probably need to be via the Maps for Mobile application rather than via WAP; but might work in the Opera or Safari browsers). But mobilizing Mapplets is probably on the roadmap. If not, it should be (and it’s something that would work well with the new Google Gears for mobile).
