Trulia has announced what might be considered its response to Zillow’s deal with newspaper publishers: the Trulia Publisher Platform. It’s free (Trulia syndicates some ads on the network sites) and publishers can add their own content or advertising as they desire.

CEO Pete Flint provided the following comments in email to me about how this related to Trulia’s API and the ad model:
It is more like Ning, a blog or Google custom search so does not require programming skills, hence is not part of our API. It will take someone a few hours max to build a version. That said we have built in some advanced features that allow advertisers to geotarget ads or content to specific regions.
There’s no rev share. The revenue from the ad spots that are available to the partner is kept 100% by the partner.
