OurFaves Creates ‘Positive Reviews’ Culture

The image “http://toronto.ourfaves.com/images/topnav_logo.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.Andrew Goodman cites my No Yelpers post and discusses the issues it raises, pointing to Tornoto’s OurFaves as an example of a kind of solution: a site that has a created a culture of positive reviews — so only positive reviews appear in fact.

This was a solution to the problem of negative reviews that Malcolm Lewis of PremierGuide suggested to me a long time ago.

How cute. Next time I get burned by a mechanic I’ll just go to OurFaves and write something nice about the mechanic I didn’t use.

Thanks, Greg. I shifted my position. I think you have to allow negative reviews to be truly useful to the consumer. But I also think you need a feature that allows the business to respond to a negative comment so that both parties are heard. I also like allowing users to vote on whether or not they found a review useful.

How about “constructive” vs. positive or negative. Users could also be given an option of rating a review “Malicious”/”Suspicious” etc. Once enough of these ratings are accrued, the review is deleted and the reviewer “flagged” as having contributed possibly biased/exaggerated comments in the past.
