While I was up on the podium at SMX Local & Mobile yesterday, lots of stuff was happening. Among the announcements, Nokia is buying Navteq for $8 billion (TomTom owns TeleAtlas). The question is: will third parties that rely on the company’s data (e.g., Google, etc.) now be squeezed? We’ll see.
Yahoo! also launched a number of search upgrades (local is a piece of it) and announced a major partnership/mobile distribution deal with Spanish telecom company Telefonica that impacts users in 15 countries in Europe and Latin America. More on that on Local Mobile Search.
