Here’s the release and its main provisions:
- Featured Listings — Sponsored listings with guaranteed placement on the first or second search results pages for broader exposure in a specific geography or category
- Enhanced Listings — Sponsored listings that offer the ability to add a detailed business greater online visibility for businesses and enhance their appearance within organic results
- Yahoo! Maps Business Listings — Sponsored listings within the context of a map-based view
RH Donnelley of course owns LocalLaunch, which provides distribution to the broader Internet via Google and Yahoo!, among other traffic sources. But this puts RHD advertisers at the top of Yahoo! Local results and on Maps, which will give them a kind of premium exposure.
Yahoo! recently reported that it had 20 million uniques per month at Local. However, by far the greatest volume of local search comes through the “front door”: Yahoo.com.
