Last week Web.com (formerly Interland) and Websitepros agreed to merge in a deal worth roughly $25 million. The release states that the combined company will have:
- Over $117 million annualized revenue run rate
- Over 234,000 paying subscribers
- 21 patents with several pending
- Industry-leading partnerships
SMB hosting is now essentially a commodity business that sets up a marketing relationship. Web.com had been working with WebVisibile to provide simplified Internet/search marketing, while Websitepros owns Leads.com, one of the early providers of these services. I would imagine that Leads.com will take over the business for the Web.com side of the business eventually.
I don’t have all the numbers, but this deal probably makes the combined Web.com/Websitepros the largest or one of the top two or three hosting companies for SMBs.
