Yahoo!’s Mixd a Casualty of Confusion?

Several folks (Read/Write Web and TechCrunch) are reporting on the death of Yahoo!’s mobile service Mixd. I thought it was an interesting and promising service, combining:

  • One-to-many texting
  • Photo and video sharing
  • An Internet interface to manage the content

There are two opposing interpretations of why it was shut down: consolidation and rationalization of resources (meaning efficiency) in the wake of the Yahoo! reorg or continuing strategic confusion.
