Gadgets Galore: CES & Macworld

Apple LogoThe sprawling CES is going on this week in Las Vegas (I’m not going) and there will be more product announcements than anyone can possibly capture and humanly assimilate. Meanwhile simultaneously in San Francisco (stealing the PR thunder), Steve Jobs will be making some new announcement(s) (new OS capabilities, bigger video iPod, iPhone, HD Mac-TV, or the actual introduction of iTV?). I don’t cover Apple, but I love the company for its product design.

There are two areas that are noteworthy and interesting to me: mobile/wireless devices and tools capabile of delivering Internet content/downloads to your TV. Of the two areas, getting the Internet onto TV is the more interesting right now because that will be a game changer (although it’s now possible, it isn’t that easy). TiVo has announced this service but it’s not live yet and Sling Media is announcing a device (SlingCatcher) that sends what’s on your PC to your TV.

Here’s more from Reuters on the SlingCatcher.

Apple has many more new products coming. I do think they will become an even bigger force to be reckoned with.
