RH Donnelley, the third largest US yellow pages publisher, has acquired local SEO/SEM firm LocalLaunch. That means YellowPages.com/AT&T is the only remaining major US publisher that has not acquired an SEM firm. SuperPages recently bought Inceptor and Yellow Book purchased ClickForward previously.
LocalLaunch was being courted by a number of suitors and this is an incredibly interesting development that has lots of implications for RHD and the industry. It’s worth a much longer post, which I will have to defer until later.
Here’s the release, which just came out.

Interesting – LocalLaunch includes ‘digitalghost’ from WebmasterWorld, one of the smartest and savviest internet marketers out there.
If he remains with them, they will have gotten a stellar person for their SEM strategy.

I remember Justin Sanger (exec. LocalLaunch) attending the first Kelsey Group Local Search Conference. He was in the audience but I noticed him and pointed him out to the crowd. He was important; his company was the first to aggregate leads for local businesses using search marketing tactics (paid and unpaid). At the time Overture said that without them their local advertising offerings would not work – aggregates were needed. Wow Justin. You proved the model and now you get the rewards…excellent.
