When (Virtual) Worlds Collide

I've written before about the potential convergence of mapping, local search and virtual worlds (like the Sims). Here's an interesting article from CNet about the potential convergence of social networks and gaming/virtual worlds.

When you think about the possibilities you start to recognize that social networks (as well as mapping and search) are in a very primitive developmental state in many respects.

And here's a related article from the NY Times (reg. req'd) about young girls abandoning dolls and TV for the Sims. Here's yet another based an AP-AOL poll showing that four in ten US adults are involved with computer/console gaming.
