MetroFI, which had been in contention for SF and lost to Googlink (Earthlink + Google), has apparently won the muni Wi-Fi contract for Portland, Oregon. Here's more from Wi-Fi Networking News and The Oregonian.
At The Kelsey Group's recent conference, Chuck Haas, CEO of MetroFI, ambitiously predicted the US would be unwired (nationwide Wi-Fi) in five years. Om Malik, who was a panelist on the same session, blogged about it.
