Another thought in the Google "what's the next vertical?" guessing game, John Battelle points to a page on Google featuring real-estate specific pull-downs in Google Base. Here's the screen. This is far from the rich user experience offered by major real-estate verticals — although it's only a matter of time before Maps are integrated into this (in fact they are) and possibly this data integrated into Local. And given Google's footprint and mindshare with users, any effort by the company will have traction if promoted.
What this needs now is alerts functionality.
Base will be a source of almost unlimited veriticalization for Google. I earlier wrote about Google's coming vericalization here.
